1956 F100 Family Project

In 1994 my two sons and I drove to Hermiston, Oregon and towed home this old truck. The idea was that we could quickly fix it up and clean it up for a "Driver" to high-school for the boys. Well, I misjudged just how old this truck was - no brakes, sloppy steering, poor electrical, a big Ford 390, and teenage boys were a recipe for trouble. We were referred to Bob Throndsen in Arlington who ran a Street Rod shop called the Wagon Works. Bob gave us some great advice - and we hired him to graft a 72 Chevelle front clip onto our trucks frame. Sounds silly - but it was the best move we made.... From there we caught the street rod bug which increased the cost, and delayed the completion. The truck was finally road worthy in 1998 - unfortunately after my older son had graduated high school and was off to college - and my younger was a senior. So, they missed the dream of having a cool old truck to drive to high school - but now some 15 years later we still enjoy this nice red truck that is a pleasure to drive. I'll tell some more stories about our experience building it later...and post some pictures.
